Artist: Emily Procner and the Friday Inkie Printers.
Artist Info: I have always admired the beautiful entries from previous years and decided this year I would make an effort to enquire about taking part and also involve a group I do printmaking with locally in Eye on Fridays. After emailing our proposal, we were thrilled to be accepted and subsequently were given a small sculpture of two meerkats to work with. In the past I have noticed that the majority of the entries were often painted. I very much wanted to utilise the technique of printmaking and repurpose pieces of our groups prints which they no longer wanted to keep, covering the surface of the two animals. We first used light blue tissue paper to even up the surface and make it easier to apply the printed pieces to. We used circular shaped pieces of lino, collagraph and silk-screen prints. The overall effect is quite abstract in nature, very colourful and almost has a mosaic feel.
